SO, WHAT’S HAPPENING IN JULY?
It’s a busy exhibition period coming up. Currently, I have these two paintings in the Clarence Open Art Exhibition. Both these paintings are in response to a trip to the Tarkine/Takayna, a wilderness area here in Tasmania. The ancient forest and it’s inhabitants are under threat from mining and logging. The Bob Brown Foundation takes around 100 artists into the forest each year to make art. Then they hold an exhibition as an awareness campaign and fundraiser afterwards.

I currently have a project on the go that explores colour and mood variations using the same image. The aim is to create 100 little 10cm square oil paintings that are all different. Here’s a sample of the progress so far.

A BIT ABOUT ME

My studio is located in Hobart, at the base of kunanyi/Mount Wellington. Landscape is my main inspiration. I am an award-winning artist and have been creating art for over thirty years, selling locally and online. My oil paintings are available through Harmony on High Street Gallery. Alternatively, you can contact me here.
Most of my oil paintings are small, but they pack a punch. I aim to capture the location and atmosphere I encounter. Most paintings are created en plein air while experiencing the landscape first-hand.
The mixed media process I sometimes use embraces chance and randomness, a metaphor for the unpredictable influences around us. Paintings begin with play and experimentation. Then, I use intuition and experience to refine and resolve them.
It’s a wonderful process of experimenting, learning, adapting and sharing. Here are a some examples of my paintings.

Testimonials
Your painting, “Westerly” has comfortably settled in and at the moment is facing the west until I arrange for its framing. My husband admired it, especially the strong colour choice that somehow epitomises the wind strength and direction that we get here, facing the mountain. I will treasure the print and I thank you most sincerely for your kindness and generosity.” Lynne Beck, Tasmania
“Your landscapes are beautiful and they make me happy to look at them, which in my humble opinion, is the best kind of art. I don’t get to travel as much anymore but looking at your paintings when I walk through my house gives me a similar feeling of experiencing a different place. It’s like pausing in my hallway for a mini vacation.” Christine Scott, San Antonio, Texas
“I bought your artwork on the Incognito site this year. I love “Surge.” It speaks to me. I would love to know what your inspiration was. I felt the ocean vibe as soon as I encountered the artwork. Your work hangs, framed in my workshop.” Carol Anne Wegner, New Zealand
