Abstract and semi-abstract mixed media paintings inspired by the Australian landscape and the creative process.

abstract mixed media acrylic painting in blue and orange

Plunge $270 20cm wide x 20cm high

Acrylic paint, graphite and acrylic paint pens on 300 gsm acid free cartridge paper attached to a white cradled wooden panel and sealed with matt spray varnish. Ready to hang.

The marks and lines in Plunge led me to the title. Look at the way everything is leading down. There’s a hanging lake in that valley and no wonder! Look at the run off from the hill! What do you see? This series began with excitement. I looked forward to experimenting further with some techniques I had recently started to use. I wasn’t disappointed! There’s a combination of drawing with acrylic paint pens and graphite, spraying those with water and adding paint with brushes.

As I worked intuitively with the water, creating effects, it seemed the series was becoming more about water, both literally and subject-wise. Suddenly, I could see all sorts of water themed ideas within most of the images. These moments when things come together are what we all dream of! I hope you find these small paintings interesting and fun.

“Plunge” is ready to hang. You could also add a floating frame to this painting using Bluethumb’s professional framing service.
